A Day for Hiking: Sibley Park

A Day for Hiking: Sibley Park

Some days are meant for hiking. With the long days of summer, blue skies and a general wish for frolicking, maybe you’ve been thinking about hiking too?

Earlier this year, Kenji took me hiking/walking at Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve. It’s such a pretty place to walk around, with several trails, magnificent views of the bay, and nature all around. Oakland’s home to some great hiking areas, and Sibley is definitely one of them! I highly recommend it if you’re in the Bay Area. San Francisco’s not the only place to explore 😉

These pictures are from the spring time, so the grass might not be as lush green anymore (thanks to the scorching hot weather we’ve had recently), but I’m sure it has it’s summertime beauty. I’ll have to go back soon and check for myself!

If you like photography (and/or pretty flowers + vegetation), you might want to check out this  wildflower guide that the wonderful humans at East Bay Regional Park put together. You might as well check out their website too, just in case there are any trail closures.

As you can see from the gallery below, you can look forward to flowers, lost tennis balls, space to think/meditate. Obviously, ample photo ops. 😉

On our hiking adventure, I also had the lovely fortune of running into one of my favorite elementary school teachers. I hadn’t seen her in years!

Here’s to healthy exercise, adventures and and unexpected reunions 🙂
